- סַלְמִנְטוֹןm. (a corrupt. of salsamentum) salted food, preserve. Sifra Bhar, Par. 3, ch. IV (ref. to Lev. 25:22) ישן לא מלמטן (corr. acc., or סלסמן salsamen) ‘old produces (in natural condition,) not preserved; Yalk. Lev. 661 ולא סלמינטין (read: סַלְמִינְטוֹן); B. Bath.91b בלא ס׳ without need of preserving; v. רְצִינְתָּא.
